PreFairAppl (Private and Fair Applications) is a joint project of the research group IT-Security of Prof. Meyer at the UMIC Research Centre, RWTH Aachen University and the research group of Prof. Susanne Wetzel at the Stevens Institute of Technology. The main focus of the project is the development of fair applications which preserve the privacy of the users. In this context, privacy-preserving refers to the fact that the users' inputs remain private while using the application. The concept of fairness ensures that the computations are performed in a way that recognizes the users' individual preferences on their inputs.
There are many applications for which it is highly desirable to achieve both fairness and privacy simultaneously. The applications' section introduces our iPhone app appoint which allows the fair and privacy-preserving scheduling of a meeting time. Another application scenario on privacy-preserving policy reconciliation is detailed in our publications.
